Workshop on critical thinking and media manipulation

Action for Peace #79

What happened?

Zavod Voluntariat organized a simulation game with elements of the man hunt game in open space. Instead of having planned the theoretical input about manipulation and critical thinking, they transformed it into quests and hidden around the Roznik hill in Ljubljana.

Teams of 4 participants searched for the characters and their mission based on solutions from the quests. The participants were ESC volunteers from NGOs in Ljubljana, local younger volunteers and 3 project managers from friended NGOs. At the beginning it was messy, but after assigning leaders of the groups, they took over the role of timekeepers.

This action addressed a few issues concerning critical thinking, media manipulation and greenwashing.

Reflecting on the importance of critical thinking and media manipulation, one participant said: “I was not aware that the clothes industry is such an unethical business’’.
