SCI 100 Yrs Centennial – a Zooooomboree

What happened?

Inspite of the worldwide and national lockdown – SCI Malaysia is planning to celebrate and commemorate this special and significant milestone in our History with a Zoooomboree.

Despite the limitations we are facing currently due to the pandemic, SCI Malaysia (Selangor & Federal Territory) chapter) celebrated SCI 100^th Anniversary online via Zoom Meeting – “Zooooomboree”. The event was named “Zooooomboree”, inspired by the word “Jamboree” (ie. a large gathering of Scouts who rally at a national or international level). The theme of this celebration was to rekindle relationships and reconnect the like-minded volunteers and at the same time promote volunteering and culture of peace across all age groups, religions, race and background.

SCI 100th Years is more than MERRY,
We are all One Big FAMILY,
Not only it’s a JAMBOREE,
It’s a Big ZOOOOOMBOREE

They had approximately 50 participants who joined the momentous celebration. They shared videos and photos on the historical past and milestones; workcamps; their Peace-promoting activities and engagements; shared their time spent with fellow volunteers, activists and some magic moments captured through the years since the 1970’s.

During the Zooooomboree, they also virtually launched a peace pole in SCI Malaysia’s (Selangor & Federal Territory) office together with cake cutting ceremony.

A big thank you to the dial-ins from Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Australia and Indonesia. SCI 100^th years is more than MERRY, SCI is one big FAMILY, not only Jamboree, but it’s a BIG ZOOOOOMBOREE!
