Unmasking
Covid

Action for Peace #40

What happened?

With this campaign, the Gender Blenders Working Group wishes to highlight the impact that COVID-19 had on society in relation to different gender realities. They believe that, when it comes to gender, there are various power structures that are deeply engraved into our mentality that eventually manifest through hate, violence and inequality.

With this campaign they want to show how the measures taken to tackle this pandemic and the health crisis situation that derives from it strengthen and highlight those structures already present in our society.

They believe that focusing on this topic and in general promoting gender equality is of great importance for a peaceful society.

The Unmasking Covid campaign was launched on May 16th overlapping with the International day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

The aim of the campaign was sharing information, statistics, articles and different types of inputs to expose hoe the COVID-19 crises impacted different gendered realities in different ways. The many effects of the pandemic stressed the pre-existing flaws of the system making them more visible and pronounced.

The campaign offered different types of interaction with followers, it contained more engaging activities, such as quizzes as well as a more informative part, ending with examples of best practices and positive news coming from all around.
