WIKIPEDIA FOR PEACE: Writing about SCI History

Action for Peace #32

What happened?

What better to spend Easter during a pandemic than writing Wikipedia articles in an international group?⠀

14 participants from Europe and Asia gathered from 1-7 April via Zoom to learn how to edit Wikipedia, to discuss peace-related issues and to get to know each other.⠀They worked closely with SCI Archives, established in 1970s, and provided digitalized materials about around 80 years of history of SCI.

They wrote ca. 30 new articles around the 101-year-old history of Service Civil International and the early Swiss peace movement in Russian, Armenian, German, English, French and Dutch.⠀

Newcomers participants got familiar really fast with writing, and they were very motivated to contribute to making peace more visible online.⠀

Looking forward to our next Wikipedia camp!⠀
