Jai Jagat: Marching for peace

What happened?

The initiative Jai Jagat started with the Indian population movement Ekta Parishad, known for its long marches that bring together the landless peasants, poor people, the marginalized, in order to challenge the relations of power within society.

In Belgium, the campaign Jai Jagat is organized as an itinerant forum, walking from farm to farm, meet alternative places, field associations. It will start July 1st from Brussels and will head to different places in France in order to rejoin in Geneva Sept. 25th 2020. Several associations and towns support this march: everyday there will be exchange to elaborate advocacy that will be brought to Geneva. It will take one month and crossing of almost 30 towns, before arriving 31 July 2020 in Avioth, in south Belgium.

The march will take place in different places in Wallonia and will visit different projects that are active in the urban agriculture field, eco-feminism, agro ecology, sobriety, theatre, solidarity with poor people and with migrants.

The march will start from Molenbeek in Brussels and will go through Ixelles, Etterbeek, Wattermael-Boisfort and then will stop in different places in Wallonia: Huldenberg Leuven, Grez-Doiceau, Beauvechain, Jodoigne, Perwez, Fernelmont, Namur.
